رمان جدید اریک آرتور بلک با نام مستعار جورج اورول اثر مهمی است که منتقدان آن را به عنوان محکم ترین و درخشان ترین اثر او ستایش کرده اند. جورج اورول رمان نویس، مقاله نویس و روزنامه نگار انگلیسی بود و ویژگی کار او نثر شفاف، انتقاد اجتماعی گزنده، مخالفت با تمامیت خواهی و حمایت صریح از دموکراتیک می باشد.
